Worded Script...
Hey everyone today I will be talking about the importance and key factors of good sportsmanship. First off I’d like to share that this podcast is for athletes but anyone is invited to listen and share their opinions. Now I’m sure that most of you know what good sportsmanship is or even have your own general idea. But my question is do you really know what it brings to the table? Well that’s why I’m here to elaborate on the subject. To begin with, I myself, run track and field. I come across situations all the time where I might have beef with another team or an opposing player. Now in most situations I do let things go and I move on. But picture yourself in a competition where someone is better than you or even better, you are at a rivalry game. In most cases players tend to react negatively towards one another when their losing or winning over a competitor by a margin. From experience I’ve seen players put down one another because of the way they played or what they did. That’s no way to encourage your teammates. Little does everyone know, the way a player acts results back to their image? I’m pretty sure no one wants to be considered as an inconsiderate jerk or a sore loser. When you or anyone shows good sportsman ship you’re not only making your ego rise but your encouraging your teammates and showing them that, “hey its ok guys, there’s always a next time.” Some steps that good be taken leading and showing good sportsman ship are greeting other players, shaking the opposing team’s coach’s hand, and even just keeping a positive attitude after a bad call. Little do people know, small actions can go a long way when it comes down to being seen as a healthy sport. If you’re an athlete or know someone who is, please let them know the importance of good sportsmanship. I cannot stress enough how important it is to keep a positive attitude. Don’t listen to what others say when they see you applauding the opposing team or helping saying great job after an event. The way I see it, I didn’t care about your negative opinion before it was made, so why care now. I advise all athletes to do the same. This has been a message brought to you by Trinity Baker. |
